When summer comes around it gives us plenty of reasons to celebrate. So if you want to have summer soiree but don't know how to go about it, have a look at some of these party ideas and pick one that works for you. Whether you're celebrating a birthday, a special occasion, or just want to have some friends round, Summer is definitely party season.

The Australia Day / Hottest 100 Party
Australia Day happens to fall during the perfect time of year to have a party. Whether you're celebrating Australia Day, or planning a Hottest 100 Party, this is a great excite to fire up the barbie, and have some mates round. If you want to go all out then decorate your place with flags or green and gold streamers, but you can easily celebrate without all the hassle.
Food: The barbie is the quintessential food for Australia Day festivities, you may as well throw in some other Australian dishes like lamingtons and pavlova. Also, make sure there is beer, lots of beer.
Dress Code: Just have things casual, you don't need to bother dressing up, people will just dress to suit the weather.
Activites: If you are listening to the Hottest 100 on Australia day, you can hold bets as to what the number one song will be. Australia Day is also the perfect time of the year for a game of street cricket.

The Hawaiian Pool Party
Pool parties are a brilliant idea for summer, especially when you need to entertain people on blistering hot days. If you already own a pool you'll probably already have some fun pool accessories (if it is a party for kids) or poolside seating. This can be a great idea for kids birthday parties because they'll be able to entertain themselves, just make sure that you have enough supervision.
Food: Fruit is your best option for a Hawaiian pool party, cut up colourful fruit of all kinds and serve it on a big platter. Make some fancy mocktails or smoothies for the kids, and alcoholic cocktails for adults. Just make sure no one is getting too drunk by the pool.
Dress Code: Think grass skirts and coconut tops for the girls, and bulla shirts and board shorts for the guys. You can pick up some leis from $2 shops and hand them out to your guests on arrival, this way everyone is dressed up for the festivities.
Activities: You'll be able to have most of your fun just sitting, or playing, by the pool. If you're looking for some other activities to throw in then why not set up a round of limbo, or trying your hand at pineapple bowling?

The Mexican Fiesta Party
It's pretty hot in Mexico, and so what better time to have a Mexican fiesta party than during summer? This party is all about celebrating Mexican food and Mexican beer. Decorate your party with brightly coloured streamers and fairy lights.
Food: Mexican is perfect party food. Make nachos, burritos, enchiladas, and tacos. You'll also want to stock up on some mexican beer and margaritas.
Dress Code: There is no official dress code, but sombreros, bushy moustaches, and ponchos are all recommended.
Activities: Set up a piƱata or two, and let your guests have a go at these, and if it's a child's party then have a game of pin the tail on the donkey.

So party through the summer heat, and start planning your next summer party. If you need to plan a kids party this summer, then One Charming Party is a great party ideas website. Check out their Bubble, Mermaid, or Water parties. All perfect for summer.
