With summer holidays on the way, what better way to spend in than in creativity. The State Library of Queensland at Stanley Place, Brisbane, is having their Summer Festival of art, stories and play from Mon 31 December 2018 to Sun 27 January 2019 from 9am to 6pm every day. Places are limited and tickets are selling fast, so check out the full program online and be quick to book.

Tickets range from $35 to $40 per person, and some events are free but require you to register to secure a place in the event. The Story Lab: Virtual Reality Club event has already sold out, so get in quick and book your tickets for the rest. You'll find workshop information guides and consent forms to download as required for each event.

Story Lab: Future Architecture, Tue 8 – Fri 11 Jan, 9am–2pm | For ages 8–12 - What do homes of the future look like? Design one in this workshop, work with a professional architect to build a scale model of a home fit for the future.
Drawing Room Workshops: Digital Stories, 8–12 & 22–26 Jan, 10.30am - 12.00pm & 1.00pm - 2.30pm | For Famlies - Simple technology and supersized imaginations required to make a book that's easy and fun, using your ideas and voices.
Story Lab: Digital Dioramas, Thu 10, Mon 21, Tue 22 Jan, 9am–2pm (for 8–11 years) - Collaborate on a digital pop-up diorama using cardboard, animation and projection.
Story Lab: Flash Fiction, Mon 14, Tue 15 & Wed 16 Jan, 9am–2pm (for 8–11 years) | AND Thu 17 Jan, 9am–2pm (for 12–16 years) - Create an amazing story in a flash; write a series of ultra-short stories.
Story Lab: Robot Racers, Tue 15 – Thu 17 Jan, 9am–2pm | For ages 8–12 - Using a custom-made robotics kit, engineer a robot racer using Arduino circuits, motors and Lego.
Drawing Room Workshop: Kid's Own Publishing, Tue 15 Jan–Sat 19 Jan, 10.30am - 12.00pm & 1.00pm -2.30pm | For Families - Families can create, publish and bring their own stories to life.
Story Lab: Interactive Story Maps, Wed 23 – Fri 25 Jan, 9am–2pm | For ages 8–12 - Collaborate on an interactive canvas where stories are triggered by touch.

Grab the kids and unleash your imaginations, and the little ones can rock out to a Woodstock-like ride of nursery rhymes. There's something for everyone and for all ages, so make your summer a story you'll remember for a long long time.
