When summer comes a calling, the City of West Torrens responds with entertainment and performances at the Summer Festival 2020 for the whole family. All Summer Festival events are FREE entry and held at various venues on various dates from Sat 4 Jan to Sat 8 Feb 2020.
Kicking off on the 4th of Jan from 5-10.30pm, Aladdin (PG) will be screening at the Open Air Cinema at West Torrens Memorial Gardens, 1 Booker Terrace, Hilton. We're all familiar with the story ofAladdin the street urchin living in the Arabian city of Agrabah with his pet monkey Abu.
The children's and family events like Little Day In; Little Day Out - Splash & Beach, is filled with explorative fun at STE(A)M in science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics, complete with experiments, engineering challenges and demos. SPLASH connotes getting muddy and wet and it's just that; as you splash out with fun water activities, so be prepared and BYO towel and water pistol. BEACH is as is; bring a picnic, build a sandcaste, ride a wave, play beach cricket and learn about beach safety. The children and families are well catered for at this Festival with family friendly activities such as these and the PG rated Open Air Cinema events.
The CAMDEN CLASSIC is another with food trucks, roving entertainers, kids zone, free face painters and more. An athletics carnival, it's filled with activities and entertainment for the kids. THE KINGS FORK has so many fun activities including a giant 70ft obstacle course and wet slide (suitable for children only), a lineup of Adelaide's best food trucks and musicians and a bunch of fun stuff for the kids and adults alike, including boutique beers and wines.
All Together Now is a celebration of arts and culture with a soundtrack to dance to. Adults scan enjoy Cartel Afink who will bring their new Latin genres that are taking the world by storm while Bortter Okoe will display his well known extraordinary musical gifts as one of Africa's most inspirational musos. Yellow Blue Bus is a Ukrainian inspired global-fusion ensemble that proudly features the unique Ukrainian bandura, a 65stringed cousin of the lute while The Various Nefarious, Adelaide's funnest New Orleans and Gypsy Jazz swing troupe along with the rest will keep you bopping. The kids don't miss out either with The Nylon Zoo, Circobats, Mr Oopy's Bubble Show, Face Painters, junkyard play and more on the horizon.
The Thebartonia Street Party is the smash hit of the Festival filled with 3 music stages, market stalls and food trucks in an expanded event area. The performance lineup is stellar and this is one street party you don't want to miss.
