For a summer of fun, make tracks to the and Exhibitions/Events/2018/12/Summer Days 2018-19#.W_0PB6Or21s Workshops Rail Museum at Ipswich.
The Workshops Rail Museum invites children to run away with the circus these school holidays.

Ideal for children aged between 3 and 10, the Summer Days program includes the special Circus Train and Circus Camp zones. Children can try juggling, hula hooping, balancing and more at the Circus Train exhibit as well as hearing the fascinating stories of circuses that travelled through Queensland by rail.

In the Circus Camp, children are invited to practice their acrobatic skills or play games including Bean Bag Toss and Crazy Quoits.

At the Creation Station, children can create a pair of elephant ears or a clown's hat. There are also plenty of puzzles and stories.

Located in North Ipswich, the Workshops Rail Museum has played an important role in Queensland's rail history. Over 145 years ago, the first train to run in Queensland departed from these sheds. The Workshops experienced a revival in 2002 when the site was converted into a museum. Tours of the Heritage Railway Workshops depart 10.30am and 12pm daily (enclosed footwear is required).

There is so much to do and see. The Nippers' Railway, an indoor adventure playground complete with a child-sized train and moveable boom gates and signals is a highlight with the youngsters.

The model railway is an impressive construction, depicting scenes from Queensland's rail network including the Darling Downs Wheat District and the Kuranda Sky Rail.

Don't forget to experience the sights and sounds of train travel in 1935 on Platform 9, observe the Governor's Carriage built in the Workshops in 1903 and still part of the active fleet or try driving a tilt train on the simulator.

Plan to spend at least three hours at the museum. Guests are invited to pack a picnic lunch and relax in the shady grounds or enjoy a bite to eat at the Trackside Café.

Children are invited to dress up as their favourite circus character or animal.
