As the warm sunny weather starts to subside and the days get shorter, there is an unmistakable chill in the air. Sadly, we have to accept the end of another glorious summer. While it's easy to feel down at the thought of not being able to enjoy all your favourite summer pastimes, there are lots of ways you can keep warm this winter by channeling all of your favourite summer activities – with a twist.
1. BEACH Love the beach in summer? Then head north. When it's chilly in Sydney, you could be chilling by the pool with a cocktail in Northern Queensland. With average temps in June of around 17-27 degrees compared to 9-16 in Sydney, a little mid year winter holiday is just what you need
3. BBQ Warm sunny BBQ weather is getting harder to come by and, let's face it, some days will be just too cold to don an apron and stand outside while doing the BBQ honours. With a range of indoor grills available, there is no reason to wait until warmer weather to get your BBQ on. Why not sit indoors with your friends and "grill your own" around the table for a cosy indoor sociable BBQ experience?

4. SPORT Just about every sport that is played on the beach or outdoors during summer can also be played indoors. Think volleyball, soccer, tennis, swimming, basketball etc. Getting the heart rate up is a surefire way of keeping warm this winter. And fit.
5. OUTDOOR DINING One of my favourite summer things is dining outdoors on a balmy night. You don't have to give that up during winter as most restaurants have heating and an enclosed area. Obviously, next to the heater is best. Alternatively, find a venue with a fireplace for hard to beat warmth in winter.
