A series of great films held in one of the best locations in Melbourne, (the Royal Botanical Gardens) is the Ford Focus Moonlight Cinema. A great way to see some of the current releases such as We Brought A Zoo and The Adventures of Tintin outdoors and in beautiful surroundings. Great news for dog lovers, you are allowed to bring your dog provided it is on a leash. You can bring a chair, except it needs to be a low one, otherwise you will be asked to sit right at the back, and rugs can be brought in as well. Otherwise bean bags are available for hire at the event for around $9. Food and drinks are also available for purchase at the event, and tickets prices are around $18. Or otherwise, for premium seating with a bean bed already in place, then consider upgrading to Gold Grass for $33. Full details on the event's website.
The Australian Shakespeare Company is onto a winner for families right here in Melbourne, also to be held at the Royal Botanical Gardens this summer. See this beautiful classic come to life with all the favourite Wind in The Willows characters such as Mr Toad, The Water Rat, Mole and Badger. Family picnics can be arranged for $35. Just love going to the Bendigo Art Gallery. Really chic and classy for a country art gallery, and the great thing is that Bendigo is only two hours away from Melbourne, so a great reason to escape the city for a day; especially with the Made in Hollywood exhibition (image attached) that will include portraits from the 1920's to the 1960's from London; all reprinted from original negatives. Expect to see icons such as Marilyn Monroe and Elizabeth Taylor in plain clothes as well as images of Hollywood stars posing for promo photographs in costume.
4. Australian Open 2012
The Australian Open is definitely the grand slam of the Asia Pacific, and the event promises to be bigger and better than ever with extra prize money up for grabs and the upgrades happening in Melbourne Park in preparation for this great annual tennis event starting next month. 5. St Kilda Open Air Cinema
For a quality film experience at the St Kilda Sea Baths is the Ben & Jerry's St Kilda Open Air Cinema.
