About Sumatra Adventure Holidays

Affiliated with Adelaide Hills Escorted World Tours, Sumatra Adventure Holidays is a locally owned sustainable and responsible eco tourism travel company based in Bukit Lawang - a popular Sumatran tourist destination located on the edge of the Gunung Leuser National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Sumatra Adventure Holidays was founded by Sue Delaney after Sue and her family travelled to the western Indonesian island of Sumatra, to celebrate her 50th birthday (two years ago) and fell in love with Sumatra and its inhabitants.

Arriving home to Sinclair's Gully, Sue's passion for Sumatra remained and in partnership with Sumatran tour guide (now tour operator) Syamsudin Udin formed Sumatra Adventure Holidays.

Sue and Udin have a common purpose and vision for their touring and trekking company - contributing to Sumatra's economy and tourism by ensuring the company's tourism dollars are invested back into local communities, through partnerships with local communities and businesses, employing and training local guides, developing and supporting locally owned guest houses and providing employment for local people with the aim to preserve their local heritage and culture.
