Located along Main North Road in Blair Athol, Sumar Kebab House specialises in offering Afghan cuisine with a focus on kebabs. It was quite popular when we visited with a crowd of a good size when we visited for dinner.
When ordering their grilled platter dishes, you have the choice of having them accompanied with either bread or rice. Both the Chicken and Shish (minced lamb) Kebabs that we chose had a delectable charred flavour, with the spices imparting them with their distinctive flavour. The Shish Kebab also did not taste too lamby. In addition to bread, the grilled platter dishes also came with a salad made from spring onions, onion slices and a yoghurt-like sauce to enjoy with the kebabs.

The amount of beans in their Bean Soup was sufficient to make eating it a satisfying experience. The beans still retained a bit of bite. The tomato-based soup that the beans were cooked in gave the dish a bit of a sweet flavour, making it good for enjoying together with their stronger tasting dishes.
Compared to the Bean Soup, the Okra had a sourer taste that was not too overpowering. The pods of okra were soft while still retaining a bit of firmness. It also gave the soup they were cooked in a slightly thicker consistency.
There's Afghan Restaurant at Mile End when we were living in Adelaide, but that was over 10 years ago. Don't know if they still there but that was the best place for gathering-family style dinner, where we shared plates with everyone on the table.
Thank you for this article, just bring back good memory when we were living in Adelaide
