The Suitcase Rummage

Published May 1st 2012
If you're a lover of op shopping, enjoy looking at other people's wares or like handmade crafts then the Suitcase Rummage is for you. And even if you don't enjoy any of these things you should check it out anyway because it is such a unique concept.

The basic premise of the Suitcase Rummage is that people bring along things to sell, these are placed in a suitcase or in front of a suitcase, and then people well, rummage through it. So you need to be prepared to get down on your hands and knees to go through everything, and also have a bit of fun trying to haggle with the stall holders.

Basically anything can be sold, except for mass-produced items. Generally there is a lot of second hand or vintage clothes, accessories and some pretty funky handmade bits and pieces.

The Suitcase Rummage is held on the first Sunday of the month at Reddacliff Place near the Treasury Casino (George Street/Queen Street Mall) in Brisbane city.

My only advice is to get in early, because the bargain hunters are usually there well before 12.

If you're interested in becoming a stallholder, or just want to find out when the next market will be, check out their website.
