The Suitcase Rummage is fun and unique idea way to hold a flea market. Sellers pack up a suitcase or two, lay down a blanket, open them up and start selling. It's that easy. What lies within the suitcases is the mystery - whether it be antiques, artwork, clothing, shoes, books, vintage jewellery, handmade paper or knitted socks. The emphasis is on second hand or handmade so what you will find at the Suitcase Rummage is anyone's guess, and there lies the fun.
Suitcase Rummage began in Brisbane with Isabel FitzGerald and Daniele Constance, two women with a passion for markets as a way to get the community together back in the "town square". They also felt there was a need for a smaller step for creative folk who needed to test out the market without the overheads of the larger markets.
Selling out of funky old suitcases was the perfect solution.
The markets will be held in Kendell Lane in NewActon (so hip that it doesn't have a space between its' words), just minutes from the CBD. If you haven't explored NewActon yet, it is an award winning, architecturally beautiful part of the city with its own community, sculptures and top quality Restaurant's and Cafes. For an article on the NewActon Precinct, see here.
The area is perfect for this mini market as it already has a strong feeling of community and this will bring everyone together for a good ol' rummage.
For updated info before the markets, check the Suitcase Rummage Facebook page.

This will be the third time these markets have been held at NewActon and have been hugely popular in the past. It would be the perfect way to spend the day for a bargain hunter like myself - sift through the weird, wonderful and amazing treasures inside the suitcases before enjoying everything that the NewActon precinct has to offer.
Just keep an eye out for this local character who has quite a presence in the area...
