Sugo Mi Gelateria had me at 'peanut butter and chocolate'. It's hard to beat that swoon-worthy combination of sweet, rich chocolate and salty peanut butter - and this colourful little shop located up an alleyway off Bulimba's busy Oxford Street does my favourite flavour to perfection.
Peanut butter and chocolate not your thing? No problem. There's a veritable rainbow of other heavenly sorbet and gelato made in-house from scratch, using fresh, local ingredients. Several of Sugo Mi Gelateria's other flavours, notably 'very chocolate', 'salted caramel' and 'caramelised fig and ginger' (which I also gobbled with gusto) have even won prestigious Dairy Industry Association of Australia awards.
In addition to the standard flavours, the creators behind Sugo Mi Gelateria also love to experiment. One very cool thing that they do is provide a suggestion box so customers can submit wish-list flavours. Among those selected recently (earning their nominators a free one litre take home pack) are white chocolate, cherry and coconut; carrot and walnut cake with cream cheese icing; and Vietnamese coffee.

Stopping off at Sugo Mi Gelateria is a great way to round off a morning's window shopping. It also has plenty to offer night owls. Situated as it is in the heart of Bulimba's dining precinct, it's the perfect destination for late night dessert.
