Nestled in amongst the laneways of James Street is a lovely little eating spot. I grabbed a girl friend and attended Sugar Jar Cafe's Saturday launch.

We arrived early, and had a chance to chat with staff. It was their first Saturday trade and official launch since taking over the cafe recently, and the place was filling up by the time we had finished.
Coffees

A nice, simple menu, with bacon and egg rolls, toasties, sandwiches and even a butter chicken dish, everything was very affordably priced. First thing - caffeination. My friend's cappuccino was heavy with foam, which she likes, and the coffee was "Melbourne-quality". My affogato was served already made (coffee and ice-cream together) but served promptly so the ice-cream was still firm and not a melted mess that you can be served other places.

Toasty

From the menu, we chose toasties - chicken, avocado and Swiss cheese, and turkey, Brie and cranberry - on multigrain. Both were balanced in flavour and just the right amount of food for a weekend brunch. Cold water and glasses were available at the counter, which is essential for Brisbane's warm weather. Overall, a very lovely brunch experience.

Sugar Jar Cafe is open Monday through Saturday for breakfast and lunch, and coffee. Both my friend and I resolved we'll be back - I'm going to try the butter chicken soon.
