Visible from Bundaberg train station and centrally yet conveniently located for Bundaberg's tourism attractions, has clean and spacious rooms making for a comfortable stay.
The Room
My queen room had a bed that was firm yet comfy with towels tightly folded in an attractive manner but due to tiredness from driving up from Brisbane, I couldn't photograph it but the comfort became more appreciated throughout my one night stay.
My room's bathroom was very clean with a shower spacious, while the room overall had a tremendous feeling of space when I looked around myself. As seen in the photo of the more than a metre-wide television, there is space galore. There was also air conditioning - a remote controlled split system that was chilling my room yet on a 33 degrees day and humid evening - after running for fifteen minutes it made a noticeable difference to room temperature and comfort.
A fridge and clean microwave were supplied, as were spare pillows and blankets. My room was fitted with mirrors, a table and dining chairs - a comfy lounge chair also comes with the room. Tea and coffee are provided in what is essentially a standard motel room but is noticeably spacious, clean and well-maintained.
The Motel
Overall the motel is simply going through the motions - being understated yet efficient - the rooms are lovely and staff virtually just have to clean the rooms and process guests. After driving to nearby
Childers from Brisbane in searing heat with plenty of roadworks on the
Bruce Highway , to have a room with cold air conditioning and a comfy bed is a really nice occurrence. It may sound subtle yet this motel had many electrical powerpoints in the room I was in, which is a very useful feature in an era where electrical devices are always needing charging. In fact, seeing four to five easy to access powerpoints increased my liking of this motel significantly.
has wi-fi for guests, a laundry, conference rooms, a restaurant called
Canecutters Kitchen - currently closed for dinner, parking for each unit, family rooms, twin rooms and its pool has a spacious area around it. The motel-sized pool looked enticing in the summer morning sun. While rail noise isn't significant compared to a capital city line and somehow due to daily yet infrequent use every few hours adds a hint of extra security to the motel which is visible from the station platform.
The Location
Bundaberg is a very touristy place with tours to the
Southern Barrier Reef , transfers to
Agnes Water , nearby Bargara and other beach townships, the world-famous rum distillery, the Bert Hinkler aviation history, the turtles at
Mon Repos (near Bargara) and the architectural history of the city being powerful reasons combined to make the Bundaberg region an Australian and internationally renowned destination. Bundaberg is accessible by coach, rail and airplane from Brisbane. The reason I decided to visit Bundaberg is that I saw Bundaberg as having unique attractions at an affordable cost yet accessible from Brisbane.
is an understated yet convenient and suitable place to relax after travelling to Bundaberg, resting its guests and allowing access to such aforementioned surrounding attractions. As seen below, the rooms looked tasteful and a little plusher than other motels in the city. A gallery is as follows with photos
