The holidays are coming and this might be the ideal time to visit some of the many exhibitions that are on in Brisbane. I went to Sublime and was really taken by its expanse, its diversity, its originality and its sheer inventiveness so if you have a "culture slot" and want to see something which might challenge the senses this might just fit the bill.

The exhibition is on until the 24th of May 2015 so there is plenty of time and it is free.

The beautifully aesthete columns of Zilvanas Kempinas as you enter the Gallery allow you to weave in and out of them and marvel at the delicacy of their creation as well as the cumulative effect of seeing them all in situ.


Michael Sailstorfer's Wolken (Clouds) 2010, and the newly acquired HD video installation Raumlichtkunst (Space-Light-Art) c.1926/2012 have you gazing upwards and wondering about the larger picture. The car wash installation which comes on periodically is amusing and engaging.





I particularly liked Timo Nasseris "Epistrophy" - it helps to be Greek - this means "Return" and you can see what the artist is trying to create in these cleverly placed mirrors which reflect in on themselves and out on to you.

I find Anish Kapoor's work always one for a lot of contemplation and his Blue here is a work which will have you walking around, admiring the depth, the abyss of colour. No picture will do this work of art justice so go and admire it for yourself and you will see what I mean.
