Nestled in the heart of Subiaco Centro, is a park of many moods; there are spaces which are playful, spaces to gather and socialise, spaces to be alone in quiet contemplation, spaces for art, and walks to take in the views and be touched by nature.

Quirky & Playful

Brightly coloured quirky and playful pieces of public art double as playthings for children. A canary yellow chair towers over an organic shaped sand pit. A giant blue TV, by artist Peter Dailey, provides a space for the young at heart to flex their creative muscle. All the while, I expected to see the White Rabbit scurry out from under a bush, or The Mad Hatter to offer me tea.




Intimate & Social

Not far from the play area is a well shaded area with picnic tables, gazebos and barbecues. A shallow stream with stepping stones meanders along one side of the area. It has all the ingredients for a great family gathering or for a barbecue with friends. It is Saturday afternoon, yet there are just a few people in the park.




Serene & Peaceful

The stream flows into a limestone bound lake with a modest fountain in the centre. On its grassy banks are ducks enjoying the sun. A few ducklings venture into the water while tiny minnows dart about.




Paths to Explore

There are plenty of paths to explore giving different vantage points of the lake and its bird life. Follow these and you find intriguing pieces of public art, some of which echo the area's industrial past.



Grand & Formal

As you approach the western side of the lake, though no less beautiful, the mood is one of formality.





is within walking distance of Subiaco Train Station and Subiaco Square.

Why not catch a train to Subiaco, buy something to eat and drink (you'll have a wide range to choose from), then head to for some downtime.
