Make the most of balmy spring evenings at the Subiaco Lounge Series, held over two consecutive weekends across Subiaco's finest restaurants and bars.Held over two exciting weekends, this fabulous community event will showcase handpicked acts performing an amazing collection of African dance, gyspy jazz, European folk, string quartets, chilled folk club vibes and full-blown funk and soul.Choose from toe-tapping open-air performances to more intimate, cosy gigs hosted by some of Subi's best restaurants and bars.Within the program, you'll discover music that celebrates many cultural and stylistic layers: improvised jazz meets live art, instrument makers reveal secrets, and musical surprises pop up in laneways and on unexpected corners.Highlights of the 2020 program include: Zucchini Brothers Fill the Streets - FREE: Subi's famous vegetable siblings colour the streets with Euro-folk, Latin and bossa vibes. Paper Moon Play Bistro Felix - Table Bookings Recommended: Two wonderful evenings of spell-binding musicianship with outstanding vocalist Fiona Rea and virtuoso jazz guitarist Lachlan Gear. Major Swing Project at Railway Station - FREE: Major Swing Project deliver a vibrant and engaging street performance to welcome and warm up the concert series.
Village Bar Goes Global with Steve Hensby Band - FREE: Charismatic frontman Steve Hensby leads an 8-piece, eclectic and highly entertaining troop of fabulous musicians. Gypsy Jazz in the Attic Bar - Ticketed: In the stunning art deco surrounds of the Regal Theatre, what could be more fitting than the stunning Sassafras, Perth's premier gypsy jazz outfit. Performance is in the newly renovated bar upstairs in the Regal Theatre. Major Swing Project at Bark Bar - FREE: Effervescent accordionist, Nikki Dagostino with a trio, that makes up the incredible Major Swing Project. Burgers, Brews and Blues with Lez Karski - FREE: Producer of early Midnight Oil records and ex-guitarist of the Hippo's/Bondi Cigars, join Lez Karski for masterful blues, craft beers and brilliant burgers. Swing Dance with Damian Denyer Trio - FREE: Join Damian Denyer Trio for an amazing evening of music at the Regal Theatre's newly renovated Attic Bar. Laneway Gigs with the Double D's - FREE: Join in these laneway performances with DD & The Moneymakers on Friday 25 September. Winton at Juanita's - FREE: Compared to the likes of Ben Harper, Sting and Kelly Joe Phelps, Andrew Winton is a master grade musician and entertainer. Come enjoy his captivating performance at Juanita's for the Subi Lounge Series. Nika & Jacob's Folkclub at Bark Bar - FREE: Poetic snapshots of the urban mundane, raw and intricate songcraft shared by two of Perth's leading indie-folk artists, Nika Mo, Jacob Wylde. The Alchemy Art Quartet - Ticketed: Selections of Nordic folk tunes from Danish String Quartet alongside Haydn and other sonic string delights. Live Art / Live Jazz at the Corner Gallery - FREE: Jammed jazz & RnB improvisation by Goof Troop, Lucia Tennant with projected live art in this cosy gallery in Subiaco.
Global Groove Train in the Attic Bar - Ticketed: Two of Perth's hottest brass-driven dance bands, The Bambuseae Rhythm Section and Brassika combine to groove it up in the Attic Bar, upstairs at the Regal Theatre. Swingin' Dance at Refuge Small - FREE: Plugged in swing, hot and tasty featuring some of Perth's top-shelf jazz musicians, the Electric Django Quintet. Scintillating Swing at Dilly Dally - FREE: Plugged in swing, hot and tasty featuring some of Perth's top shelf jazz musicians that make up the Electric Django Quintet.
