Desperate for some fashion advice? Feeling in need of a pick-me-up? Or do you just feel like indulging yourself rotten for an hour or so? Either way, Sportsgirl in the Bourke Street Mall is your answer.

The Style Me Studio will help steer you through the hazardous waters of fickle fashion in no time flat. According to the Sportsgirls brochure, "Our professional stylist will give you the lowdown on current trends, help you dress for your body shape, find the perfect head-to-toe outfit, answer your fashion questions and teach you some insider styling tips to get the most out of your wardrobe."

Before the day, the stylist will contact you to get an idea of what you hope to get out of the day i.e. what do you feel are your problem areas, what is your lifestyle etc.

There is no obligation to buy (really!), and it's just so much fun. Not only do you get to try on new clothes, Sportsgirl have a great line in vintage garments as well. I tried on at least 10 different outfits complete with accessories and shoes. It's wonderful to get feedback from a neutral adviser who really knows their stuff.

The Melbourne store is large and very well stocked too. I've been in several times now and particularly like the always welcoming smiling salesgirl at the entrance. That's good customer service!

If you want some moral support, make a double appointment with a girlfriend, or enjoy a mother/daughter day out like I did. The surroundings are fabulous too, which all adds up to making you feel very special indeed.
