Sturt Gorge Recreation Park invites you and your family to come celebrate this hidden gem of the southern suburbs in the month of March 2020. A number of activities have been planned, especially for those with a sense of adventure.
On Saturday the 7th, children between the ages of 10 and 14 have the opportunity to learn or develop new bike handling and control skills. Clinics for both beginners and intermediates will be led by a Head for the Hills coach. Cost is $10 per child, and riders with little or some mountain biking experience are welcome but they must be comfortable on two wheels.
On Sunday the 8th, children aged 6 and above can experience being water detectives investigating critters that live in the lake. They get to catch, observe and identify the water bugs they find. And don't worry about bringing nets as they will be supplied on the day. There is no cost for this event, however, bookings are essential via their
website .
Now, for the adults, there's a social run, river hike and dog stroll to choose from. All are free to join.
The social run through Sturt Gorge will be held early on Sunday the 8th with three available courses - 6km, 14km and 20km. More information can be found on the
Trail Running SA website.
The river hike on Saturday the 14th is a circular route of over 6km. It is a somewhat difficult hike with some steep ascents and therefore requires you to have a good level of fitness to participate. You will, however, be guided by a ranger throughout the hike.
The dog stroll around Craigburn Lake will give you the opportunity to find out about the new campaign on dog walking in parks. Dogs are obviously welcome, but please be sure to have your 2-metre (or less) lead and doggie bags with you. This event will be happening on Saturday the 28th.
