Do you love foreign animation films?

Only Yesterday' returns to cinemas around Australia from Thursday 5th of May 2016 with a updated version.

From Academy Award®-nominated director Isao Takahata and general producer Hayao Miyazaki, 'Only Yesterday' is a beautifully animated film by one of the world's most revered animation studios.

This Japanese animated drama film was written and directed by Isao Takahata, based on the manga of the same title by Hotaru Okamoto and Yuko Tone. It was originally released in 1991. The film was a surprise box office success, attracting a large adult audience and becoming the highest-grossing Japanese film of the year in the country. It was well received by Western critics and scored 100% positive rating by Rotten Tomatoes.

To celebrate Studio Ghibli's 25th anniversary this favourite returns to cinemas in Australia for a limited-time. It will have a new English-language soundtrack featuring Daisy Ridley and Dev Patel, and be released in High Definition for the first time.

Only Yesterday' tells the story of Taeko, a single woman working a desk job in Tokyo, who has reached a point in her life where she needs to get away from her job, her family and big city life. A much needed vacation to the countryside stirs childhood memories, recalling her time as a schoolgirl in 1960s. Amidst beautiful country scenery, Taeko reflects on her life and forming new friendships, begins to make some tough decisions about her future.

Sessions will be strictly limited, so book at your local cinema today.
