At the festival, there will be many stalls and activities, as well as entertainment.
Taken at last year's event
With three live stages and professional bands, school groups, community groups and indigenous groups - there will be so much entertainment. Festival-goers can sit the whole day and watch this entertainment as it will be continuous!
Also on the program for this festival will be:
community stalls which will sell fair trade/organic/ethical products
Entertainment featuring local artists, and headliners, Nicky Bomba and Mighty bUZZniks. The Mighty bUZZniks are inspired by things like "giant talking chickens and tree-hugging robots". These and other oddball characters will create fun for the whole family. In the world of The Mighty bUZZniks, almost anything is possible in music and imagination!
There will also be a "Maker Space" at the festival where the local community is invited into an artist "assemblage" zone. Here the aim is to resurrect, refashion and re-purpose life into the goods that we regularly throw out.
This idea will help us think about the way we consume and invite makers of products to re-consider what could actually be re-created out of things that might normally be considered as rubbish.
The festival will be on 21st October 2018 from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm, and it is a FREE event. The Rowville Community is situated at 40 Fulham Rd, Rowville.
There will also be talks aimed at teaching the public about rubbish and recycling as well as new and upcoming inventions to help in developing sustainable living practices.
To get to this interesting community event, you can drive to the Rowville Community Centre, and there is parking on Fulham Road. Bike racks are available at the Fulham Road entry. Click on this link for the bus timetable from the Knox Civic Centre to the Stringybark Festival.
