Perched up on the hill in the main street of Sorrento is a limestone building that blends into the atmosphere of the quaint village easily and unobtrusively.

If you have just arrived in Sorrento and have been for a wander, you will find Stringers at the corner of Ocean Beach Road just opposite the Continental Hotel. It sits perched up on the hill in a limestone building that is part of the original Sorrento village atmosphere.

Upon discovering this little eatery, you might see the window that sits unobtrusively looking out of the corner store's cafe.

If you take a window seat and look up, you might be looking out over the pine trees to the Bay and where the Ferry meets the wharf. You may get to experience one of those beautiful bay and sky views, where the blue of the sky seems to softly blend into the clouds and the gentle waves of Sorrento beach with a touch of sunlight somehow manage to take your breath away.

Sorrento time is 90 kms different to Melbourne time. It is calm, social, fashionable and stylish without fuss and one of the Mornington Peninsula's best holiday locations.

Stringers is part of the Sorrento landscape beginning as the local grocery store. It's still a supermarket but has the cafe, incorporating a great wine selection including local produce from the Mornington Peninsula region. Simple gourmet foods and some stylish individual kitcheny items are sold and it is the place to go for breakfast, brunch or lunch.

The food is no fuss, high quality and with coffee and the daily papers is a great way to spend a holiday hour before deciding on the day's activities or after having visited the backbeaches or Port Nepean.

If you look up from the table and through the arch way, you will see a supermarket, with lovely bakery breads, biscuits, cakes and gourmet delicatessan items. There are a number of easy, beautifully made meals, including soups that are thick, wholesome with a touch of gourmet. These are well priced. Add a great thick bakery bread and you have a wonderful dinner for the holiday house.

This little supermarket filled with great holiday foods and the normal everyday items all within arm's reach and easy to select from and well priced is ideal for the Sorrento daytripper or holiday maker.

Stringers has been listed in the Lonely Planet and Mietta's reviews.
