Juicy issues, confronting questions and surprise twists
We all know there are serious challenges facing humanity today climate change, drugs, the slowing economy it seems we're surrounded by gloom and doom. This is no time for humour, or is it? Years ago the ABC ran Geoffrey Robertson's Hypotheticals, a very entertaining series that featured discussion of social issues in imaginary situations. Now Perth has its own live version in Strictly Hypothetical, where "social commentary meets live comedy".

Strictly Hypothetical

Strictly Hypothetical Perth is the brainchild of Katrina Bercov and Elisa Williams. With backgrounds in acting, psychology, education and events management, they have combined their talent and experience to offer public shows that provide a challenging and entertaining night out.

Strictly Hypothetical Perth

Four shows are planned in September and October (check the Facebook page for show details). Panellists ranging from Greens Senator Scott Ludlum to comedian Sami Shah will discuss hot topics like these:

Submerged 5 September
When the oceans rise, the Islanders of Neknus can no longer squeeze into the few remaining hilltop houses. Where are they to go and who is responsible?

Hidden A Gender 19 September
It's the post-gender world of 2050. Through a combination of biotechnical and cultural changes, most people no longer identify with a single gender. So does that mean the battle of the sexes is over?

Fair Game 3 October
Is sport the enemy of art in the lucky country? And can a bus load of cultural refugees from Melbourne save Perth's cultural scene before the curtain falls on it forever?

Radiant 17 October
Newly discovered "Radiant" is the perfect recreational drug: blissful highs, no hangover, non toxic, non addictive. Should Australia be the first to legalise it?

All sessions are held at Rosie O'Gradys pub in Northbridge. Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door, a very small price for a very different night out.
