A sample of North Adelaide's finest
It seems as if a compromise has been reached between the North Adelaide Traders and the Adelaide City Council, with us (the general public) being the winners !
During 2014, and the first year of Adelaide Oval, Council and the Traders couldn't quite work out how to make things happen for everyone's culinary enjoyment prior to a big game or big event at Adelaide Oval. However after some soul searching and innovative thinking, along comes Street Eat In North Adelaide.
Street Eat In North Adelaide is a new eating venture promoted by the North Adelaide Traders, and championed by Emma Hack, to highlight to the breadth and depth of North Adelaide as it gains momentum as one of Adelaide's foodie hot spots.
Street Eat In North Adelaide, provides a chance to to taste small offerings from vendors along O'Connell and Melbourne Streets. With price tags of between $2 and $8 it gives the hungry consumer a chance to have a single or multi course meal from several different venues for a minimal cost.
O'Connell Street Bakery
For consumers, this is a fantastic opportunity to try out a new venue, cuisine and flavour sensation without having to sit down. It is perfect for the fussy eater, the time concious footy fanatic, the cricket tragic or even the foodie extraordinaire to pick a venue to visit when they are looking for a special occasion or just a night out with friends.
Many venues have committed to support this innovative and revolutionary food event and include Gin Long Canteen, The Curious Squire, First Pour Adelaide at Veneziano Coffee Roasters, Regent Thai, The Pink Pig Wine Bar, Bakery on O'Connell, Tony Tomatoes and Vida Comida - Food For Life . With many more venues expected to sign up over coming weeks this unique eating opportunity is one not to be missed.
Venues will commence trading from around 3 hours prior to the big games at Adelaide Oval, with the World Cup Game between India and Pakistan on 15th February becoming the inaugural event. Following this event, and possibly some fine-tuning, it is anticipated that Street Eat In North Adelaide will be displaying and selling their foods prior to every cricket game at Adelaide Oval, and then prior to every Port Adelaide Power and Adelaide Crows game during the football season.
So if you are looking for a quick bite to eat before the game, and the food at Adelaide Oval doesn't excite you, then why not give O'Connell and Melbourne Streets a go, and support Street Eat In North Adelaide.
