Streamwatch is a citizen science program that has been running for 30 years. It's a water monitoring program that enables community groups to monitor the quality and health of local waterways. This long running program was initiated by Sydney Water and the Sydney Catchment Authority. Your help is needed to monitor water quality in the Georges River and maintain the natural environment at Lighthorse Park.
Register here for events running once a month on a
Saturday from 8am to 11am on 27 Feb, 27 Mar, 24 Apr, 22 May, 26 Jun, 24 Jul and 28 Aug 2021. Meet in the Lighthorse Park car park, and be sure to wear long sleeves, long pants, and sturdy shoes. Bring a hat, a mask, water and sunscreen and join in from 8am to 9am - Streamwatch and 9am to 11am - Lighthorse Park Environment Group.
The event is free to attend at
Lighthorse Park, 4 Riverpark Drive, Liverpool. You can contribute to the understanding of changes in the Georges River by your involvement in this event with the Lighthouse Park coordinator. Following water quality testing, the next activity involves bush regeneration which will help native vegetation thrive and keep Lighthorse park looking neat and inviting to visitors.
