Naturipe Fruits: Strawberry Picking in Bacchus Marsh

Are you ready for a summery strawberry taste explosion? Forget the supermarket generic, bland, mega sized monstrosities and head towards Bacchus Marsh for a wondrous afternoon of strawberry eating: I mean picking, that you can do with the whole family.



Naturipe is situated at the start of the glorious Avenue of Honour just outside Bacchus Marsh. They offer a variety of fruit to pick such as peaches, nectarines, apples (available early Feb) and of course their dazzling strawberries. Entry is free, so grab a provided bucket or punnet and get to work.



Enjoy the act of 'walking the rows' to hunt out the little red gems hidden amongst the green foliage and of course don't forget to sample a few to find the right patch of exquisiteness. A tip though, bring along a water bottle to give them a quick wash before tasting. Marvellous fun can be had with the kids (or adults for that matter) holding a friendly challenge of who can find the biggest, smallest, ugliest, prettiest and funniest looking strawberry.



Remember that strawberries don't ripen after being picked so only pick ones that are completely red, leaving the others to ripen for the next lot of strawberries hunters.



As Naturipe is a working orchard there are no café facilities but there are plenty of beautiful parks and nature reserves in and around Bacchus Marsh for a picnic and a chance to delve into your strawberry stash.



Bacchus Marsh is only a 40 minute drive from the Melbourne CBD along the Western Freeway. Take the first exit and follow the signs. Naturipe's fruit picking season lasts from November to April. More information can be found here .
