Luxury Close to Home
With a little weekend getaway in mind, we decided to try a boutique luxury home just minutes from some of the best walking trails and lookouts in the central Blue Mountains area.
Historic Cottage In an area where historic cottages come by the dozen, Strawberry Patch stands out. We asked the owner on the history of the home, as we had found out that she renovates her properties herself, right down to searching for the smallest of pieces to make the property stand out.
Strawberry Patch was built in 1912 as an old miners cottage and still has plenty of the original pieces of the home right down to the combustion stove in the kitchen and the gorgeous facade.
Surprises Around Every Corner When you book into self-contained accommodation, you aren't quite sure if the property will live up to the photos, but Strawberry Patch? It well exceeds them. Four-poster beds with the softest of linen and the most comfortable mattress, double spa bath (with underfloor heating!!) that overlooks the gardens, and gardens where you can simply get lost discovering everything.
Go Explore Strawberry Patch is 100m from the main street of Leura and 5 mins from the Everglades Historic House and Bridal Veil Lookout. The ultimate stop on the Blue Mountains - Echo Point and The Three Sisters, is a 7-minute drive.
There are plenty of restaurants close by and we really recommend a stop at Josophan's Fine Chocolates, The Candy Shop and lunch or dinner at Leura Garage.
Inclusions Because we decided on a last-minute trip away, we were going with the basic inclusions at Strawberry Patch but decided at the last minute to add an antipasto platter.
We were certainly pleasantly surprised when we arrived finding Champagne, Port, chocolates, fresh flowers, toiletries and breakfast provisions.
If you really want a great Blue Mountains experience, book yourself a stay at Strawberry Patch. We certainly look forward to trying one of the other Mountain Whispers properties on our next trip.
