There's Fun Things to Do for All Ages at the Strawberry Festival
The Strawberry Fair is an annual event at the Edwardstown Primary School, attracting a huge crowd from all the surrounding suburbs. It's packed with free things to do for all ages, with market stalls, games, and all the fun of the fair. One of the things I like most about the Strawberry Fair is that it is so affordable - you can do a lot with only a few dollars.
Arriving at the fair can almost be daunting, there are so many fun things to do it is hard to know where to start. There are always a large number of market stalls selling everything from second hand furniture to plants and cheap books: the fair is pretty much a market in its own right. A white elephant stall sells all the odds and ends that you don't find anywhere else, and is great fun to explore.
Market Stalls - Second Hand Furniture, Garden Plants & White Elephant
The Edwardstown Primary School oval is transformed into a giant fairground for the Strawberry Fair with lots of activities for kids. Some of the free things to do include AMF bowling, bubble blowing, exploring the St Mary's MFS fire truck, playing with balloons, face painting, trail bags and hunting free give-aways.
There are also lots of fairground rides, and you can buy a wrist band to give your child unlimited rides throughout the day. The fairground rides include a jumping castle, climbing wall, and mini golf this year. Other fun for kids include hair and nail art, decorating bunting, henna tattoos, an animal petting zoo and a live artist drawing on the day (gold coin donation).
One of the best things about the Strawberry Fair is the great range of food on sale - there are separate food stalls for pancakes, hot chips, BBQ foods, and curry, just to name a few. The prices are low and the food is great. The food queues can get long, but they move quickly so waiting time is minimal.
After grabbing some lunch settle down to enjoy the afternoon's entertainment: free live music, puppet shows, cultural dancers, and the Cabra College band are all in the line-up of fun things to do at the Strawberry Fair. If you have energy left after hunting for bargains in the white elephant market stalls, there's always a dance floor to let your hair down and boogie.

There's no web page for the Strawberry Fair, so the best thing to do is to just show up on the day. Entry is free, and there are so many fun things to do that you may be there a while, but you're guaranteed a good time!
