Approximately 1 hour's drive from Adelaide's CBD is the site of arguably South Australia's most glamorous provincial Cup races, the Strathalbyn Cup!

Held annually, Strathalbyn Cup race day guests are treated to an array of quality food, wine, Fashions on the Field, entertainment for the whole family and of course, horse racing.

This year will feature wine from Adelaide Hills wineries: Bird In Hand; Golding Wines; Sidewood Estate and K1 by Geoff Hardy. Wine will be served by the glass or bottle, with winemakers on hand to guide guests through their selection. Standard race day food fare will be on offer through the usual food vendors but for those with more demanding tastebuds, catering by Jules Rydon (The Vendor) is sure to tickle your fancy!

The perfect event for racing fashionistas, the Strathalbyn Cup will host a fashion parade by Perri Cutten , showcasing the season's hottest raceday looks. Guests arriving in fashion dressed to impress can register and automatically qualify for the statewide Fashion at the Races competition - with finalists going through to the State Final at SA Derby Day in May 2015.

Most importantly are the racehorses and their human counterparts (jockeys; trainers; owners and strappers)! Strathalbyn's race track is renowned for the hill on the turn into the home straight. 2050m in distance, punters can be guaranteed a strong and competitive field for Race 1 (Strathalbyn Cup). For the full field of horses and their jockeys click here. I'm not normally a punter but may just put an each way bet on Number 12 - Dylanson (as my son's name is Dillon)! Most of the field are locally trained horses, with only a small contingent from interstate.
