How social medial impacts on dummies
If you haven't heard of David Strassman, you probably have lived without television. He has appeared on pretty much every variety show in Australia in the past 30 years, performed at Fringe and Comedy Festivals, as well as touring in his own right, and had his own comedy shows televised on commercial stations.
He is perhaps the biggest exception to the idea that ventriloquism isn't a popular form of comedy in the current times; well, Strassman and his dummies. Although some are dumber than others.
Currently touring Australia with his latest show - iTedE (the name referencing audience favourite Ted E Bear) - he manages to keep his shows updated and refreshing and yet retains his characters and their faults with familiar moments. This show has a focus on social media, and boasts new technology to bring "the world's most advanced puppetronics to the stage".
Go, laugh (sometimes with, sometimes at, the characters), fall in love with Ted E Bear (or his grandpa, or even his nemesis Chuck!). But have a wonderful night out and admire a craftsman at work.
