Have you heard the story about Story Bridge? Construction of this heritage-listed bridge began in 1935 and it took five years to complete before it was opened in July 1940.
The Story Bridge connects Fortitude Valley (northern side of Brisbane River) to Kangaroo Point (Southern Side of Brisbane River) and the design of the bridge was based on Jacques Cartier Bridge built in Montreal in 1930.
The bridge was named after Mr. John Douglas Story, who was a senior public servant and advocated for the construction of the bridge. Besides driving over the bridge, there is an option to walk for the interested pedestrians.
