Recently I was lucky enough to warrant an invitation to the advanced screening of the new Storm Surfers film - Storm Surfers 3D. The fourth installment of the extremely popular Storm Surfers series follows best mates and professional surfers, Tom Carroll and Ross Clarke Jones, as they spend a winter touring the Australian coast in search of a wave that no-one has ever surfed before.
Ordinarily a documentary about surfing would not be my cup of tea, but trust me when I say this film is something special. It is the first film in the series to be shot entirely in 3D and it really makes a difference. The incredible footage (which the cast and crew risked their lives to obtain) makes you feel as though you are surfing the big waves right alongside Ross and Tom. I even found myself ducking at times because I thought I was going to be sprayed with water - embarrassingly enough.
Storm Surfers 3D will have its Australian premiere on August 14th. Tom and Ross will be participating in a series of Q&A sessions around the country as well. So grab your 3D glasses and get ready to join Tom, Ross and a few of their surfing pals for an unforgettable winter spent tackling some of the biggest waves Australia has to offer. Please visit the Storm Surfers website for more information about tour dates, locations and venues, and to purchase tickets in advance.
