Stories to Remember is a summer family program the Shrine of Remembrance (Birdwood Avenue, Melbourne) runs in time for children to enjoy during the school holidays. A little something different to venture into, where children can listen to stories written especially for children. It covers the challenges faced by people and animals alike during wartime.

11 to 22 January 2016 are the dates (including Sat 16 Jan and Sun 17 January) and it's cost free to attend (however, donations are always appreciatively accepted). Be at the Visitor Centre of the Shrine at 11am. The program runs for 30 minutes and it's recommended for ages 4 to 6.

All children must be accompanied by an adult carer. Walk-ins are welcome, but group sizes are limited, hence, bookings are preferred. CLICK HERE (go about half-way down and towards the end of the Shrine's webpage) to book.

Apart from the beautiful illustrations that are to be appreciated, children learn about the hardships overcome through mate-ship, courage and determination. They'll see how people and animals banded together to create a peaceful world.

If you have children ages 7 to 13 years old, you might be interested in the ' Symbol Quest: Lions, Crowns and Colours ' family program which introduces young people to the symbolism, metaphors and codes embedded into the Shrine of Remembrance architecture, Galleries of Remembrance exhibitions and surrounding parklands.

This program runs for 55 minutes on the same dates from 11 to 22 Jan 2016 (including Sat 16 Jan and Sun 17 January) and starts at 10.15am AND 1.15pm. Meeting place and booking procedures are the same as the above program, and it's also cost free with donations happily accepted of course.
