'Stories from the Liverpool Old Men's Asylum is the subject of this month's talk at the
Liverpool Historical Society's monthly meeting.
The talk puts 'flesh on the bones' on some of the 10,000 men who passed through its doors during its 105 year history between 1853 and 1958. The amazing cast of characters will include a 119 year old sailor, a 112 year old American Civil War veteran, a pioneering racing car driver, a convict serial offender, an English soldier, a renowned convict artist and the famous 'Flying Pieman'.
The meeting will be held at the Liverpool Regional Museum, Cnr Hume Highway and Congressional Drive on Saturday 11 March commencing 1.00 pm. The talk will be given by society president Glen op den Brouw. It's FREE, includes afternoon tea and will commence at the conclusion of the formal meeting at 2.00 pm. Visitors welcome.
