A cafe with humble, hearty and genuine food
Named after the street number and the bus stop outside its door, this former corner shop in Paddington is a local cafe favourite. It is known for its personal service by owners Jason and Michael and of course, its homemade specialties. Stop 13@31 is the kind of cafe where you are greeted by name, your preferred coffee is remembered and made even before you enter the front door.
Housed in a historic building built in 1912, Stop 13@31 offers an all day breakfast and light lunches of genuine, humble and hearty food of all which are a perfect complement to the espresso di manfredi coffee. Th tuna melt bagel, porridge with apricot and maple pecans and Belgian style waffles with dark cherry compote and chocolate ganache and ice-cream are inviting, mouth-watering items on the menu. I chose the more conservative freshly baked raspberry and white chocolate "Jason made" muffin and poached eggs on toast which were delicious.
Indoor and outdoor seating is available. The aqua and white cafe colour scheme gives a fresh and warm feel. The cafe makes the most of its space without leaving customers feeling cramped in. I sat on one of the four outdoor tables. While I was there a light shower of rain tumbled on the classic, corrugated tin roof reminding me of the history of the building and feeling glad that I stopped.
