Add zest to the casual dining experience

Stone Grill is a healthy and unique dining experience which allows diners to prepare their own meal on a heat retaining volcanic stone. Stonegrill Penrith is located in the main business district in Penrith suburb. The restaurant is usually packed on the weekend, luckily I got in earlier to take some good photos of the restaurant before the big rush time kicked in. The restaurant is spacious enough to cater group dining and includes outdoor dining spaces.

We chose our seats next to the outdoor dining area and ordered Surf n Turf (steak and prawns) and Mixed Grill (steak and chicken) on the main menu. Both of the dishes were accompanied with potatoes, a bowl of fresh vegetable salads or steamed vegetables. You can make your choices of the sauces such as pepper, diane, mushroom, tomato etc.

When the waitress brought us our food, the meat was half way cooked on a sizzling hot stone placed on top of a ceramic plate, with two side dishes right beside the stone plate. Before the dining, the lovely waitress gave us some safe dining instructions - do not touch the stone and cut the meat into pieces to speed up the cooking. The meat was fresh and it was sealed in its natural juices and flavours as no other ingredients such as oil, spices or sauces were added during the cooking process. The meat cooked faster than I had imagined, by the time I had cut everything into mouthful bites, the first piece I had prepared was ready to eat.

You can't blame the cook if the meat doesn't cook according to your liking" my friend commented while he took a piece of his steak, still sizzling from the stone. I agreed after washing the stone with the icy water.

During our dining time, the lovely waitress had given us so much attention that she made us feel so special - excellent customer service I should say. If you are after a cook-your-own-meal healthy dining option, maybe give hot stone grill a try?
