Have you ever wanted to stomp barefoot on grapes in a barrel?

It certainly looks like a whole lot of fun from what I've seen and if you answered yes, then you're in luck and the good thing is, for Sydneysiders, you don't have to go too far for this experience that celebrates a successful harvest.

Grape stompin' fun

Peter Drayton Wines in the Hunter Valley are having their annual grape stomp where you can immerse yourself in the picking of Shiraz grapes before stomping on them and turning your mess into bottled wine. One tip just don't wear white. Oh, and don't worry about the sanitary side as germs from your feet don't survive in wine, thanks to the balance of acid, sugar and alcohol.

This event will also see you enjoy a sumptuous buffet breakfast of hot and cold items that include bacon, scrambled eggs, chipolata sausages, tomatoes, hash browns, toast, croissants and pastries, fresh fruit platters, yoghurts and more, along with sparkling wines and craft beer from the onsite brewery, Ironbark Hill Brewhouse.

As the day progresses, guessing games for adults will bring more fun and the chance to win prizes. There's blind wine tasting, finding hidden tags amongst the vines when picking, and Hop Bingo that will have you into craft beer.

Tours of the winery will introduce you to some of the wines that the vineyard is famous for producing Shiraz, Semillon and Chardonnay as well as their sparkling wines, liqueur fortified wines and more before heading into the Brewhouse where beer will be brewing.

Entertainment will come from Kwozzi, a duo who play keyboard and guitar as they sing easy listening favourites. Chill out with a glass of wine, whilst the kids bounce away on the jumping castle and get their faces painted.

The vineyard also has a beautiful chapel to admire and a function centre, set amongst gardens, which makes the winery a great place for a wedding or an important milestone in your life. Six brand new villas are available to stay in should you wish to wake up in the vineyard.
