The salad bar named Stock Market in UNSW upper campus food court (UNSW Fare at Mathews Arcade), near the library, offers a wide range of healthy salads. Each individual selects from one of their two base vegetables, such as mixed or plain lettuce and then chooses from the sizes; a medium is $7.90 and a large is $8.90. After selecting the base, you then choose 7 additional ingredients you would like to add in your salad.
For mine, I chose a medium mix with tomato, egg, cucumber, peas, corn, croutons, mushroom and chicken. Yes, you didn't count wrong, I had eight because chicken incurs an extra cost of $1.50. Then it's time to choose your dressing and your salad is tossed. I chose Caesar, but there's a whole variety of dressings on offer - balsamic, Thai, Greek yoghurt etc.
As seen above, one of the things I love about the salad here is the perfectly executed mixing technique for every corner of my salad. Not to mention, this salad is extremely filling and of course delicious. In addition, it comes along with free crunchy bread when paying at the register. Besides the occasional large pieces of mushroom and chicken, there is nothing that a usual non salad eater like me can dislike about it.
However, if you're really not in the mood for salad, there is also a few selections of pastas, soup, juice and other healthy selections. Or, of course there are many other shops around this food court that sell sushi, curry, noodles and fish and chips that are quite tasty as well.
