Each year, a group of local talented artists residing in the City of Stirling open the doors of their private studios and galleries to the wider public for a special viewing.
The ninth annual Stirling Open Art Studios will be held on Sunday 10 March and Sunday 17 March 2024 from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm. Entry is FREE.
Over the nine years, the group has grown substantially and now has 18 talented artists on board. Their artistic practice is wide-ranging from watercolours, pastels, oils, mixed media and acrylics to woodwork, sculpture, jewellery and pottery.
In these intimate and inspired settings, art enthusiasts are invited to meet the respective artists and peruse their unique artworks which are available for sale. Plan your day with some friends and make a day of it! All artists will be on hand to have a chat about their works, commissions and private tuition as well.
Participating artists include:
Annie Rawle
Annie works in 2D and 3D using acrylics and mixed media in various styles. Her abstract works use repeated marks that explore pattern & rhythm, order & chaos that underpin our very existence. She also has a lifelong love of impressionistic floral landscapes which soothe the soul in these stressful times. Simple mechanical kinetic features sometimes add a playful element to her 3D works. She teaches occasional workshops in her various styles.

Ben Brennan
Ben paints dramatic landscapes of Western Australia using aerosol and acrylic, producing emotion-filled artworks. Exploring the landscape using abstract shapes and colours, he accurately captures the energy of Western Australia's Gold Fields and Wheatbelt regions. Ben Brennan is an exciting artist to collect and follow.

Gail Leidich
Although Gail works in several styles, painting any subject that catches her interest, she always returns to the sea for inspiration. She paints in oils, watercolours and acrylics, sometimes venturing into mixed media. Gail holds a BA in fine art and has won awards for her work.

Geoff Devereux
Geoff is a retired Master Builder and is now able to put into practice his carpentry/joiner trade for his own pleasure and creativity. His philosophy is "wood is nature's art and I love to create its second life".

Julie Silvester
Julie Silvester paints mainly with pastels. Being a dry medium allows her to work spontaneously without waiting for the paint to dry. Julie has a passion for exploring this amazing state we live in. Filled with diverse colours and textures that give her an endless supply of inspiration for her work. She has been exhibiting throughout Western Australia in open and invitation-only art exhibitions since 1992.

Linda O'Brien
Linda's journey is forever seeking to portray light and its effect on luminosity and colour. Her subject matter is diverse and these days prefers to let her paintings evolve spontaneously from the heart, arising intuitively and more energetically. Linda's artwork has received numerous accolades across most mediums. Pastel remains her favourite, with classes being held weekly at her home studio.

Lindy Midalia
The Indian Ocean, southwest Forests and the red earth of the Northwest are where Lindy finds inspiration for her paintings. Lindy's mediums are pastels, oils, acrylics and mixed media. Lindy is continually exploring methods and techniques she feels the subjects need to deliver her vision in her art practice. A fascination with the costumes of Geisha has also led to exploring this subject.

Louise Collier
Louise Collier is based at Settler's Cottage Art Studios in Churchlands. Her primary mediums are oils, acrylics and pastels but also enjoys watercolour and mixed media. Louise loves to paint natural landscapes and has lived in some inspirational scenic and remote places. She founded an arts festival in Queensland, has exhibited widely, has extensive teaching experience and currently operates Art Outdoors (offering art workshops and weekend art retreats).

Maryann Devereux
Maryann's inspiration comes from our wonderful coastline and the ochre colours of the north. She has been exhibiting since 1996, participating in many solo and group exhibitions, and running demonstrations creating texture in painting which is her passion.

Richard Aitken
Sculptural re-invigoration of recyclable materials is the inspiration for Richard's artistic practice. Since 2013, he has been commissioned for several artworks and won seven varied awards using a diverse range of materials and techniques. In uncovering ways to recycle discarded objects, Richard follows his organic sense with strong connections to the earth, nature and repurposing.

Ros Blackburn
Ros's artworks are inspired by the natural environment. New work is an exploration of using mainly acrylic paint to combine abstract elements with realism to achieve an interesting effect while still showing a love for colour and texture.

Victoria Malone
Victoria is a ceramic artist with 40 years of being a Practising Artist. Clay is her medium and Glazing is her passion. Victoria specializes in the highly decorative Glaze Effect of Crystallines. The surfaces are spectacular. The current challenge is to increase the size of the crystals on the surface. To aid the turnover of the Glaze testing a smaller kiln has been added to the Studio. So far the results have been very successful and will be showcased at the upcoming Stirling Artist Open Studio.

Stirling Community Potters
Stirling Community Potters is a relatively new club located at 78 Jones Street Stirling. We have been operating approximately three years with a healthy membership of 35 members. Our group is a not-for-profit club where members can socialise, create and share their knowledge of all things about working with clay in a welcoming space. As a club. we are very excited to participate again in the Stirling Open Studios 2024.

Simon Greetham
Simon Greetham is a painter and photographer originally from the North Devon coast in the UK, now living in Perth. Western Australia. Simon strives to produce artworks of simple beauty. He draws inspiration from his urban surroundings and its serendipitous beauty. Simon's art is an abstract reflection of his personal experiences. the beauty and the chaos, the 'unusual in the everyday.'

Lucy Papalia
A watercolour painter of all subjects, Lucy uses a combination of realism and impressionistic styles. She uses an airbrush to create depth of field in her paintings. Lucy has won many awards over many years and awarded a fellowship with The Watercolour Society of WA. Lucy has taught watercolour painting for 23 years and travelled extensively with her art.

Stephanie Boyle
You will find a diverse range of artworks at the studio of Stephanie Boyle. Stephanie has been teaching abstract watercolours, so you will see her progression to more abstract work. Colourful acrylic abstracts plus framed and unframed watercolours.

Dee Jaeger
Dee Jaeger is a practising ceramic artist and art teacher since the mid-90s. Dee's main focus and passion is figurative ceramic sculpture however she also enjoys hand-built functional ware and objet d'art for the garden. Dee holds a BA in Visual Art & Grad Diploma Education and currently teaches ceramic sculpture for adults and school holiday clay programmes at the Fremantle Arts Centre. She also offers private ceramic classes in her quiet and well-equipped North Beach studio.

Felicity Peters
Felicity Peters is a multi-award winning jeweller who exhibits nationally and internationally. Her work was featured in over 32 books and is represented in several public galleries including the Art Callery of WA, the National Gallery of Australia and the Powerhouse Museum. In 2009 Felicity was awarded a Creative Development Fellowship - the only jeweller to have been awarded this honour. Felicity is passionate about all crafts and loves that her work is not a job but an immense pleasure.
