Families in Sydney can look forward to a host of newly curated children entertainment this September school holidays. The Sydney Children's Festival at the Seymour Centre offers an immersive arts experience especially for kids 5 to 12 years.
One of the top quality theatre works direct from New York is the cabaret for kids as well as adults, 'Still Awake Still'. It draws inspiration from the popular songs from Elizabeth Honey and Sue Johnson's bedtime book 'I'm Still Awake, Still!'.
Showing from 23 to 27 September at 10.30am and 1.30pm, 'Still Awake Still' is perfect for children ages 4 to 10 and their families in Sydney. It is produced by Jump Leads, a non-profit company that supports innovative work by independent artists, and Jessica Wilson, an independent writer, director and producer based in Melbourne. This visual and musical theatre production involving 3 mischievous musicians, a grand piano and the magic of lullabies has been touring USA and 30 venues in Australia.
In addition to the show, Jessica Wilson will also be hosting a workshop before or after the performances of Still Awake Still!. Entitled 'Paper! Tape! Torch!', kids can enjoy helping Jessica to develop a story using only paper, sticky tape, torches, their bodies and light.
Sessions for children ages 5 to 8 years will be held from 11.45am to 12.30pm and those age 8 to 12 years will be held from 2.45pm to 4pm. Cost of the workshop includes a ticket to the show and can be purchased by in person at the Seymour Centre Box Office or phone: 02 9351 7940. There are no family passes up for grabs in Sydney but you'll have more dates to enjoy 'Still Awake Still' before the season closes in NSW. So grab your tickets here before they are all gone.
