STIHL Timbersports® Australian Championship 2018


Smashing its way to the Gold Coast for the very first time,The Original Extreme Sport, the STIHL TIMBERSPORTS® will be bringing heart-pumping action to the stage on Saturday 15 (12.30-5.30pm) and Sunday 16 (12.00-5.30pm) September, 2018. Entry is free to this event that's in its 4th year of local competition; now firmly on the Australian sporting calendar. Head to Broadwater Parklands, Marine Parade, Southport, to see more than 30 athletes competing against each other.

If you can tear yourself away from the heart-stopping action on stage, there'll be a Food Truck Carnival Co's Entertainment Precinct where you'll find iconic food trucks from across the state. A kids' carnival, roving entertainment, live music acts and a licensed bar ensures that this is an action-packed event the whole family can enjoy!


Rivalry and competition between the athletes will intensify as they bid to become a Chopperoo and take to the Worlds' best at the 2018 STIHL TIMBERSPORTS® World Championships to be held in Liverpool, England in October. Check the #r =stage-teaser">website for all details and get yourself familiar with the six disciplines involved; The Hot Saw, Single Buck, Stock Saw, Axe, Underhand Chop and Springboard Chop. Poplar will be used across the disciplines except for the Single Buck which will use hoop pine as it's less abrasive on the saws. All wood has been ethically sourced, and after each round, the wood is offered as a donation to local charities who can sell it for firewood.

It's not only the men that will be looking to claim a STIHL Timbersports crown. Since its successful launch in 2017, the sports 2nd Women's Championship will take centre stage, along with the hotly contested Rookie Championship where the STIHL TIMBERSPORTS® stars of the future look to qualify for the Rookie World Championship
