Tucked away in a Surry Hills Laneway you will find – a boutique watering hole which offers a cosy atmosphere, perfect for cold winter nights, and cheap mid-week dinners to write home about.

This unique bar is a hidden and intriguing place to eat and drink. Sticky lives upstairs from the slick, communal-dining Italian restaurant Table for 20, which offers socially conscious dining and donates a portion of each dinner sold to the Hope Street Charity.

The entrance to is via Taggarts Lane, off Crown St, in Surry Hills. Like many other cool bars in Sydney, there isn't a sign, but press the buzzer and wait to be greeted by one of the lovely staff who will make you feel welcome.

Once you are inside, offers low key goodness with its dim lit lighting, comfortable retro couches, quality wine, beer and cocktail list, and it's delicious, bang for your buck, home style cooked meals.

The special mid week dinner deals are unbeatable. Wednesday nights offer a glass of wine with an Aussie staple roast dinner, or if you prefer, Thursdays delivers a Spanish Paella and a glass of wine. Both deals are available for the mere sum of $15 each per person.

The value for money is excellent and the meals that are delivered are first rate. Having only sampled the roast, it is fair to say that portions are generous and delicious, and the dish gives mum's roast a good challenge.

The menu changes regularly, while still offering the roasts and paella's, but with a twist each week for variety and to match seasonal produce. Upon my visit, I am served with free range roast chicken breast, baked kipfler potatoes, and a fennel and cabbage salad, all of which were sensational, paired with a nice glass of vino. The hearty grub goes well with the wine that is offered.

The dishes are served by the warm and generous hospitality, led by the venues staff and owner Michael Fanutz, who is nice and always up for a chat.

The bar is backed up by a great wine list and staff who know their drinks. The cocktail list also looks impressive, but given it is a school night, I pass on the opportunity.

The venue is perfect for some relaxed after work drinks, and a delicious dinner. There is no need to book, as it is first in, first served. Sticky is open from 6pm.

is a great place to catch up with friends after work, or for a relaxed and cosy date. Alternatively, if Mum's cooking isn't readily available as it used to be, this is the place to come for your feed. It is a bar restaurant which will be difficult to become unstuck from.

Check out their Facebook page or website for updated details on their daily offerings and specials.
