Have you heard this guy sing? Ouch. Or seen him perform? Huddle him just nicely with two other big names: Mick Skelton (Baby Animals, Thirsty Merc) & Beau Golden (Daniel Johns), and we have a triple ouch - Lizottes - Sunday 28th of October 2018.
I almost got to chat with him, a little while ago - but it fell through at the last minute - and wasn't I disappointed. Not because it's Steve Balbi per se, but because, well it's Steve Balbi. If there was ever a brain you could happily pull up a: genuinely welcome, intriguingly comfortable, 'your safe in my hands' chair in - I think it might be this one. He's been 'there', I think it's pretty safe to say. You glimpse it in his eyes. Could it be that it's sketched with
colour and
beauty and
thoughtfulness across his social media content, and weaving (quite possibly selfishly for us)
profoundly - eclectically, (undeniably) all through his music.
For the slightly less familiar, you might best remember him as the bass player from Noiseworks, he (along with Justin Stanley) wrote
Hot Chilli Woman (yes, it's as good now as it was then). I'm remembering him as the ultimate artiste - if I go by this, that and the eternally brilliant other (with the most recent being the last live performance I saw of him). Absolutely blown away.
As Bob Dylan once said / sang: "
take care of your memories... for you cannot relive them..." www.lizottes.com.au - if you're in need of a good one!
