I walked in to a jangle of nerves - thoughts of shopping lists, chemist visits, other chores to be done all flying through my brain - and walked out several hours later. No, not walked, floated out, relaxed. Oh so, relaxed. The massage and pedicure I had long-waited for was so good that once i had walked through those doors, I barely gave a second thought to anything except the luxury and beautiful scents that surrounded me now.

I entered this sanctuary through the shop, where helpfully, many of the products used in the treatments are available for purchase, including the teas, candles, wheat packs and of course the beautiful oils and creams.

I was guided downstairs into a den-like maze of candlelit rooms and into a change room where I was given a luxurious white robe and slippers to don. Thoughtfully there were lockable cupboards for valuables, disposable, post-pedicure footwear and a host of other 'supplies' that might be required pre or post-treatment, stored in the drawers.

The Tranquillity Lounge (ie: the waiting room) is indeed very tranquil but I only had time to slurp down some warm tea before being ushered into the massage room to meet my massage therapist, Tia.

The massage started by immersing my feet into a tub of warm, milky water and after feeling some of the tension start to ebb out of my body, I slid onto the massage table. Hot towels, an experienced masseuse and strategically placed wheat packs transform the experience at Stephanie's from a nice massage to the sort of massage you'd happily get stressed for, just to feel that release. Although it felt like 10 minutes, an hour later I pried my jelly-feeling body off the table and into a massage chair for a pedicure. Again starting with the tub of warm, milky water, this time with the addition of rose petals, Tia expertly buffed, sloughed, massaged and prettily painted her way to give me beautiful looking feet. All the while I was able to keep my post-massage 'buzz' by the use of the massage chair while chatting and drinking more of the Berry Boost tea.

Stephanies Urban Spa is located on Oxford St in Bulimba but there are several Stephanies around SE Queensland including the Brisbane CBD, Clear Mountain and Noosa with more opening soon, including Cleveland. They not only offer amazingly relaxing massages, pedicures, facials, manicures and almost any skin therapy you can think of, but they can also take care of your maintenance requirements (think waxing and spray tanning, ladies and well-groomed gentlemen). Covering microdermabrasion, skin peels and makeup application makes pretty much all you need in terms of spa and beauty therapy. Stephanie's also caters for twin rooms and spa parties. And speaking of catering, they can organise lunch for you (or a group of your girlfriends if you choose the Spa Party option), which you can select prior to your treatment from the menus of surrounding businesses in Bulimba. Or for the perfect decadent afternoon, choose the High Tea or Cupcake Afternoon Tea.
