This year, Shadforth are hoping to exceed last year's amount, but they need your help to get as many of your friends and family to join on the day, or to sponsor your climb.
This is a unique event and you will be able to (if you are up to it!) feel the reward and exhilaration of climbing 1,103 steps to the top of Central Park, all the time knowing that you have helped make a difference to lives of the thousands of Western Australians who are currently living with neurological conditions.
There are a few ways you could enter this and one is in a team of a maximum of twelve people, or you can do the climb alone.
I DID IT!
Your start time will be pre-allocated and sent to you before the event and teams and individuals must collect their race bib from the registration desk on the day (your race bib includes your timing chip).
These are the Climb Options:
One Up (ages 12) - 1,103 stairs or 53 flights
Double Up (ages 18) - 2,206 stairs or 106 flights
Mini Climb (ages 6) - 435 stairs or 20 flights
LAST YEAR'S START
Online registrations will close at midnight on Wednesday, 12th June, but you can register on the day for the One Up and the Mini Climb, but no Double Up registrations will be allowed on the day.
THE TOP OF THE STAIRS
BEFORE THE CLIMB
The registration desk will open at 7.00 am on the day of the event. Please check in at least 30 minutes before your race time to collect your race bib and timing chip and to allow sufficient time if you have to cloak your belongings.
Your timing chip will be attached to the back of your race bib. Please do not bend or remove your timing chip as this may cause an issue with your timing result. Your timing chip is disposable and does not need to be handed back at the end of the race.
Your race bib MUST be worn on the front of your tee shirt/singlet throughout the event. You can purchase a special Step Up event singlet here.
YOUR BIB MUST BE WORN CORRECTLY
Once you have checked in, you will be directed to the marshalling area and you must be at the marshal area at least 10 minutes before your allocated race time.
You will be able to cloak your belongings on the day, however, organisers suggest that you bring along only what you need; for example water, a jacket for after the climb, and a small amount of food.
There will be a first aid post which will be located on the ground floor. After the climb, there will be water available at the finish line, but don't forget to pick up your FREE bottle of water and FREE fruit as you exit the building on the ground floor.
AND THE WINNER IS....
You can, of course, just give a donation to this very worthy cause, and if you can do this, please click on this link. All donations, no matter how large or small are greatly appreciated.
