Sometimes, the best restaurants are not the pricey, fancy powerhouses taking up expensive real estate in the inner city. Sometimes, the best restaurants are the little known nooks hidden away in the suburbs; the sorts of places that locals won't tell you about for fear that success will ruin them.
Stellar Star is a funny little restaurant located in Lota (corner of Whites and Hindes Street) in Brisbane's bayside. The establishment is housed in the building that was the suburb's corner store for several years, so the building is an odd assortment of additions and extensions. But we all know its inner beauty that counts, and inside, Stella Star is both homely and trendy.
None of that matters, though – Stella Star is all about the food. Delicious, glorious Italian food. The menu includes different antipasto, pizza, pasta, seafood and meats, which change on a weekly basis. This is both good and bad – good because it's exciting to try something new, but bad because if you have something you like, you might never get the chance to have it again.
The Lota restaurant is open Tuesday to Sunday for lunch and dinner. The owners also run a restaurant at Coorparoo (420 Cavendish Road) that is open for breakfast as well, and offers a banquet option for $70 a person. Bookings can be made on their website.
