The largest building in the park is a replica of the "inside shingle hut" the family had lived in. The original hut had gaps between the wooden slabs for the wall, and the family's father would apply a mixture of cow dung and sand to the floor each month to keep it level.

The park has benches, a picnic shelter with a gas BBQ, and a second picnic table under the shade of a fig tree. There are also toilets available, and large grassy areas for kids to play. These facilities make this heritage stop not only interesting but a great place for families with young children to take a break from their travels.
