Makers Empire is a fantastic application for home and school which teaches design and technology and engages students in authentic, real-world problem-solving.
Often used within schools, Makers Empire is an excellent tool for teaching STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) skills such as problem-solving, creativity, critical analysis, teamwork, independent thinking, initiative, communication and digital literacy. These skills are now considered to be critical skills for children to develop as they are required by employers who need people who can adapt to rapid technological change.
STEAM Weekly Wednesdays is an initiative of the Adelaide Hills Council, held in the Community Room, Coventry Library, 63 Mount Barker Road, Stirling. Weekly sessions are on Wednesdays from 3 February to 31 March 2021 (4.30 pm to 5.30 pm).
Using Makers Empire children will be guided to design and model 3D objects and then print them on the Library's 3D printer. There will be a different task each week, with increasing complexity. Examples include a tilt maze, pencil topper and a small creature.
The Library provides all required equipment and the sessions are free, however,
bookings are required .
If you have booked and are feeling unwell or exhibiting cold/flu symptoms please contact the library to cancel or reschedule your booking on 8408 0420. Please be COVID safe and follow all SA Government COVID-19 requirements.
