While other people spend their summer Sunday afternoons drinking with friends in outdoor locations, you prefer the company of friends like Charles Dickens, JK Rowling and Stephen King. If this sounds like you, we've got an event for you to book into.

Brissie Bookies presents Stay True to Your Shelf , a relaxed social gathering for bookworms. Channel your inner Jane Austen heroine for an afternoon of reading in the park, with fellow Brisbane bookworms gathering every Sunday from 2pm – 4pn.

Stay True to Your Shelf isn't a book club or networking event, which means that silence and reader's concentration is prioritised. However, a dedicated social time will run between 3.20pm and 3.40pm, where visitors are encouraged to interact with each other. Participation isn't mandatory and many people use this time to grab a coffee or go to the toilet.

Brisbane Bookies is a literary-themed social club and Stay True to Your Shelf will run every Sunday continuing into 2020. Bring your own picnic blanket, snacks, and books for an afternoon of silent reading.
