West Projections are preparing for their third after-dark, projected art installation in Footscray, and they are going to paint the town blue. Being held in conjunction with the Victoria University, this interactive series of video projections, art installation and performances are sure to wow and delight crowds from every walk of life.
See Footscray in a whole new light! States of Blue is part of BluScray – a program of blue-themed arts and cultural events being used to celebrate Victoria University's Centenary in 2016. Over 20 unique sites will be used as part of this event including the Victoria University's Nicholson Street campus, local businesses and public spaces. Each will feature a specially commissioned artwork.
Some of the sites include the Footscray Community Arts Centre, Footscray Train Station, Trocadero Art Space, Five Walls Project, Faux Pho Studios, Littlefoot Bar, Idea Collective, City West Water and many more. A full list of sites can be found on the wynterprojects website.
The event also includes four free, guided evening walks leaving at either 6pm or 7pm directly to the sites featuring artist talks and performances. Saturday 3rd September – Walk 3 is titled, 'A View Through Children's Eyes', while Walk 4 on Saturday 10th September will feature the Alleys & Laneways. Also on Saturday 10th September, enjoy the closing street party at Back Alley Sally's from 7pm to late.
On Friday 26th August, come enjoy a street party in Maddern Square. There will be food trucks serving dinner alongside a bar courtesy of Two Birds Brewing, and musical entertainment to create a true festival atmosphere.
States of Blue is being held in collaboration with Maribyrnong City Council for the Footscray University Town initiative, after dark from Monday 15th August through to Sunday 11th September 2016.
