State Theatre Company will be holding a once-in-a-decade Costume and Vintage Sale on Saturday 5th December and Sunday 6 December in the Company's Rehearsal Room at the Adelaide Festival Centre. The sale is open to the public. The items on sale will include theatrical costumes, period costuming, contemporary wear, fabric, shoes, hats and accessories, which have appeared in the Company's productions on stage.
While exact productions cannot be identified, some of the costumes may have been worn by stars who have trod the boards at State Theatre Company over the years like Mel Gibson, Judy Davis, Ruth Cracknell, John Gaden, Jackie Weaver, Hugo Weaving, Colin Friels or Robyn Nevin.
The items for sale are great for reinvention, dress up parties, vintage collections and contemporary wear - and there's the extra frisson of knowing that your fabulous item of clothing might have been worn on stage by a major actor.
The recent move of State Theatre Company's Wardrobe Department back into the Festival Centre and a reduction in storage facilities has resulted in the need for the costume department to rationalise resources.
The Costume and Vintage Sale will be open to the public on Saturday December 10am until 5pm and Sunday 6 December 11am until 4pm with access via the Dunstan Playhouse Foyer.
State Theatre Company encourages patrons to bring their own bags to carry their purchases. There will be EFTPOS available at the sale.
